HOW TO INSERT A SYMBOL

To insert a symbol or special character into your document, follow these steps in Word 2007:

1. Position the cursor where you would like to insert the symbol or character
2. Open the Insert ribbon
3. Click Symbol in the Symbol section
4. A menu will appear with a small selection of symbols
5. If you don't see the symbol or character you'd like to insert, click More Symbols
6. Use the controls to select between symbols and special characters. Additional tools on the symbols tab will help you expand or narrow your selection
7. When you find your symbol or special character, click it and then click Insert
8. When you're done, click Close

HOW TO USE THE BULLET AND NUMBERING
You can automatically add numbers to the headings in a technical or legal document by using the built-in heading styles. To do this, follow these steps.

NOTE: If you use the built-in heading styles to format the headings in your document, you can automatically number the headings with the numbering format you choose.

On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering, and then click the Outline Numbered tab.
Click to select a number format that contains the text "Heading 1," "Heading 2," and so on, and then click OK If you do not want to use built-in heading styles, you can still add numbers to your headings by following these steps to link each heading to a numbered format:Make sure that the headings in the document are formatted with your custom styles.
On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering, and then click the Outline Numbered tab.
Click to select a number format.
Click Customize.
In the Level or Preview box, click the numbering level you want to change.For example, if you want to change the top-level heading style that you named "My Style 1" in your document, click 1 in the Level box.
Click More.
In the Link level to style box, click the style that corresponds to the level you selected in step e.
For example, if you clicked 1 in the Level box, click My Style 1 in the Link level to style box.
Repeat steps e through g for each heading style in your document that you want number
HOW TO INSERT PICTURE

    Place the cursor where you want the graphic in your document.

    Go to the Insert menu and select Picture.

    Select Clip Art if you want to insert clip art from the Microsoft Gallery; select From File if you want to insert a photo or drawing you've scanned or created in another application.

    For Microsoft clip art, choose an image from the gallery, then right-click it and choose Insert (the first icon in the menu).

    For other pictures, locate the file on your hard disk, select it and click Insert.

    After the picture appears in the document, resize it by dragging one of the handles (small boxes) located around the outside edges of the graphic's frame.
